LVH–Cedar Crest Construction Update

Building a ‘Green’ Hospital

As a famous frog once said, “It’s not easy being green.” He’s right. Building a “green” (environmentally friendly and energy efficient) hospital takes extra effort. “But when it’s done, it will be better for the environment, and for the comfort of colleagues, patients and visitors,” says facilities project manager Dan Winkler.

On July 31, construction will conclude on our new “green” medical office building, The Center for Advanced Health Care. What makes it “green”?

  • High-efficiency heating/air conditioning units
  • Recycled construction materials
  • Energy-efficient windows and roof
  • The use of locally produced materials
  • Air-quality-friendly paint and carpeting

Green means “go,” but yellow means “caution.” Use it in these areas this month:
John and Dorothy Morgan Cancer Center (JDMCC)—A temporary access road runs in front of the building, parallel with I-78, as the former entryway is closed during construction of a new parking deck. Handicap parking remains available.

Main Entrance—As new curbing and sidewalks are installed, the three-lane patient drop-off and valet area will move closer to I-78. A covered canopy will provide safe access to the Pool pavilion.

Parking—All patients and visitors must park in the parking deck or use our free valet service. Shuttles will run continuously from the parking deck, to 1210, to the main entrance.
